BIOS, often known as System Setup, is an abbreviation for Basic Input or Output System. BIOS is firmware that is contained on a tiny memory chip on the system board or motherboard of a computer. It serves as a bridge between the hardware of the computer and the operating system. BIOS includes instructions that the computer uses to conduct fundamental tasks such as determining whether to boot from a network or a hard disc drive.
